CM Series 1" Condenser Capsule |

The Superlux CM-H8 series microphones are large 1" diaphragm side address condenser mics which look somewhat similar to the Shure KSM-32. The sound is that of a high quality large diaphragm condenser mic, and the frequency response is similar to many such mics. Sonically they are closer to the Neumann U87 than the more neutral sounding Shure KSM-32. If you take the mic apart you will be pleasantly surprised by the build quality. The inside is very clean and the components and circuit board are high quality. The importer provides a two year warranty. The price is far lower than any such mic I have ever seen. Phantom power is required for all but the tube CM-H8D or CM-H8G.

Individual Frequency Response Chart Option.There are other dealers selling these mics, so I decided to offer an option no other dealer does (and most could not), an individual serial numbered frequency response chart for the mic you receive. You may wish to read my article "Why Do Frequency Response Curves Matter?". If you purchase a microphone with the Individual Frequency Response Chart option, I personally inspect and test each mic in my test lab, so you can be assured of a degree of quality control no one else offers. Each mic has the serial number on the inside of the mic, which I will repeat on the outside of the mic and on the hard shell case. Since I test each mic and sell it with the Individual Frequency Response Chart, you can be assured that the mic you buy is of the highest quality despite the amazingly low price. The Superlux CM-H8G is a 9 pattern tube microphone similar in concept to the classic Neumann M-49c but implemented using modern manufacturing techniques. It uses a dual 1" diaphragm condenser capsule. Like the original M-49c and unlike Neumann's new M-149, it places the variable pattern control remotely from the microphone on the power supply, and uses a transformer coupled output stage for maximum rejection of interference. I find the ability to remotely control the pattern to be one of the outstanding benefits of this microphone when compared to other modern offerings where the pattern control is only on the microphone. The Superlux DRK-B5C2mkII is their updated Professional drum mic kit. All but one of the mics in it come from their PRO series rather than the less expensive PRA series used in their other drum mic kits. It comes with a PRO-218A Kick Drum Mic, three PRO-228A Tom Drum Mics, a PRA-288A Snare Drum Mic, and two PRO-268B Condenser High Hat/Overhead Drum Mics. The PRO-218A has a shock mount stand adapter, and the frequency response curve printed on the side of the mic. The PRO-228A Tom mics have built-in stand adapters. The PRA-288A is an extremely tiny snare drum mic with a separate stand adapter, and the frequency response curve printed on the side of the mic. The PRO-268B Condenser High Hat/Overhead mics have separate shockmount stand adapters and foam windscreens. The updated kit uses the new PRO-268B microphones instead of the PRO-268A used for years in these kits. The PRO-268B is shorter than the PRO-268A and has a low cut switch and a 10 dB pad switch.
